I'am Newark Gals!

Hi All:

My name is LaMonica McIver and in 2012, I founded Newark G.A.L.S. Inc.

Newark G.A.L.S. Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of women from Newark. We believe that each girl and woman has a purpose and responsibility in this world. We strive to promote individual growth through life-enriching exposure and collaborative learning experiences.

Newark G.A.L.S., mission is to enhance the productivity and/or accomplishments of girls and young women from the City of Newark, New Jersey by providing them with core services including educational and career planning, recreational and cultural experiences, and social guidance and skills.

Our biggest highlights are:

1) Our Annual Girls Conference that we host at Central High School each year, since 2013! This year's conference is in March 2018! Registration is now open!!!

2) Our partnership with the City of Newark along with Girls Live.Love.Laugh to open the first Women & Girls Center of Hope in the Central Ward! At the Center we were responsible for After-School Programs and Saturday Programs for Girls and Women of Newark.

3) Our collaboration as one of Newark Public Schools After-School Providers! We currently host an after-school program at the Marion Bolden Student Center.

I' am most proud of my work through my non-profit! This is just a portion of the work I have been doing in & for my City! I did not show up to the community last night. I have been programming, organizing, and advocating here in this City for years. My abilities to organize, create & assess programs, and advocate are what I take much pride in and of dignity.
